THE SILKY TOUCH OF ELEGANCE

Carpets are essential decorative elements that add warmth and aesthetics to your home. However, these items, which are constantly stepped on, get dirty, and stained, require proper care to last long. With the right cleaning methods, you can keep your carpets looking as bright and clean as the first day. Here are the golden rules of carpet care!

1. Regular Vacuuming

The most fundamental step in carpet maintenance is regular vacuuming. Vacuuming at least 2-3 times a week prevents dust, dirt, and small particles from settling into the carpet fibers. Vacuuming in the direction of the carpet pile yields better results. It is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner with strong suction power.

2. Immediate Stain Treatment

The longer stains sit, the harder they are to remove. As soon as a stain occurs, blot it with a clean cloth or paper towel. Rubbing the stain causes it to penetrate deeper into the carpet fibers. Instead, use blotting motions to absorb the stain. Use a stain remover suitable for the carpet type. If you prefer natural methods, a mixture of baking soda, vinegar, and water is an effective solution.

3. Rotate Your Carpet

Carpets in living rooms or high-traffic areas wear out in the same spots over time. By rotating your carpet once or twice a year, you can prevent excessive wear in one area. This method ensures even distribution of pressure from furniture.

4. Deep Cleaning

Removing surface dust is not enough. It is also necessary to clean the dirt that accumulates deep in the carpet. Get a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year. You can also deep clean your carpet using steam cleaners or carpet shampoo.

5. Use the Right Cleaning Products

Each carpet material requires a different cleaning product. Wool Carpets: Due to their natural structure, they should be cleaned with special shampoos. Synthetic Carpets: Standard carpet shampoos are sufficient since they are stain-resistant. Natural Fiber Carpets: These carpets may be sensitive to water, so dry cleaning is recommended.

6. Protect from Direct Sunlight

Sunlight can cause carpet colors to fade. Use curtains or blinds to protect carpets from direct sunlight. Rotate the carpet periodically to prevent color fading in one specific area.

7. Protect from Heavy Furniture

Continuous pressure from heavy furniture can cause carpets to flatten and damage the fibers. Place felt or rubber pads under furniture legs to prevent the carpet from being crushed. Change the position of heavy items occasionally to avoid excessive pressure on specific areas.

8. Ventilation and Moisture Protection

Moisture can cause mold formation on carpets, leading to unpleasant odors and weakened fibers. Regularly ventilate your home to prevent carpets from being affected by moisture. Do not lay down the carpet until it is completely dry after cleaning, as this may cause mold growth.

9. Proper Storage Method

There are some important points to consider when storing carpets that are not in use. Instead of folding, roll the carpet to prevent creases and fiber damage. Store the carpet in a dry and cool place. Choose breathable fabric covers instead of plastic bags.
